Here is a couple of excerpts from an article called "15 types of Annoying Steampunks" steampunk.wonderhowto.com/foru…

I picked out a few to paste here. Do with them what you will. By the way I am firmly #2. With a sprinkling of a few others. And make no bones about it, lol.

1. The Nerf Modders

These folks love to paint Nerf weapons and use them in their costumes. Generally speaking, these are un-modded Nerf weapons that have been painted to look Steampunk-y. No matter how good these guns look, they are still instantly recognizable to everyone as Nerf guns. Nerf Modders usually don't care to spend the time or money to make more impressive props, so they often find themselves fighting for legitimacy within the community.

11. The Complimenters

The Complimenters are the opposite of The Downers. Anytime someone posts a picture of themselves or of something they made, the Complimenters will jump on to say something unhelpful like "Oh, that looks great!" instead of providing any real, useful feedback.

14. The Self-Taught

The Self-Taught have learned some kind of skill all on their own, either by trial and error, reading books, or watching YouTube videos. They are very proud of the skills they've taught themselves, and as a result they refuse to accept criticism from anyone, even from professionals in their field. The Self-Taught firmly believe that they have discovered the best way to do anything, and won't be told otherwise.

Commissions

1 min read
Ok. Up until now I have hesitated to take any commissions. I'm not really sure why I never did. Maybe too busy, maybe I just wanted to be here for portfolio sake only. I've seen so many fantastic artists on here that never do commissions. And a lot of artists that maybe shouldn't offer commissions (lol sorry no hating here). Anyway, I feel now is the time.
My work is 3 dimensional in nature. It ranges from props to sculptures to theater set ups. Whatever suits your fancy. Original designs are encouraged and I do design work as well. I DO NOT however create prop copies of licensed material. So anyone wanting the latest Ninja Turtle weapon, there are plenty of others out there for that. That being said my rate varies per item. Free quotes.

Thanks!

Work

OK. So not too long ago I had the great fortune of being part of a TEAM of artists hired along with my close friend and fellow deviant Mike Vilardi (caesar120) by a local company (Symmetry Products Group International under the direction of Julie Lancia) to create two full sized Transfomers for the Hong Kong release of the latest movie. Under the artistic direction of the talented lead sculptor On Kiev, myself and several other sculptors and painters worked for 3 months on this project. The project consisted of a 26' Optimus Prime (pictured) and a 20' BumbleBee (pics soon). In addition to the artists there were a team of foam fabricators, sanders, urethane staff and a very talented welder. I am proud to have been part of this project and the opportunity to work with a great group of people. I will be posting the various stages of its creation. Credit for most of these photos goes to Carrie Cappizano who was also a sculptor/painter on the project.

Inspiration

1 min read

I would have to say I'm glad I have this community of artists to enjoy. There are days that blurr together with no artistic output on my part whatsoever. But going on DA spurs me on. Inspires me. Challenges me. Makes me look deeper into who I am as an artist and where I want to go with this so called artistic talent. I regret having not photographed or created more work in years past, but onward and upward! Never say die. Or at least create until the French fries run out!

Thank you to all the extremely talented artists here. Keep up the good work.
